The Vision of the Virginia Association of Marriage and Family Therapy is to promote the marriage and family therapy profession by supporting therapists, advancing systemic learning and enhancing public understanding of the vital role that marriage and family therapy plays in nurturing enduring relationships. This vision is accomplished by:

• Advocating for the advancement of marriage and family therapy as a distinct mental health profession
• Advancing professional training of LMFT’s, LMFT residents, LMFT interns and other mental health professionals interested in learning more about systemic therapy practices
• Promoting inclusivity and culture competence for the profession
